Sandy is the established city east of us, sitting under the Wasatch with Little and Big Cottonwood canyons opening above it. It is older and more settled than the cities on our side of the valley, with mature trees, a broad mix of seventies through nineties housing, and the Shops at South Town and the stadium anchoring its centre.
Proximity to the canyons gives Sandy a genuinely different winter from the west side of the valley. Cold canyon air drains down the benches at night, so east-side Sandy garages run colder than ours do, and the snow that falls there is heavier and hangs around longer. That means stiffer doors on winter mornings, more ice bonding at the bottom seal, and springs that fail a little earlier than the same spring would on our side.

🌊 What Sandy Garage Doors Are Up Against
We cross east on 9000 or 10600 South into Sandy, and in winter we plan for the cold. Doors on the bench are stiffer in the morning, ice bonds at the seal more often, and forcing them is how cables break. Sandy also has enough older housing that legacy hardware rides on the truck as a matter of course.
